Everything New and Old in Christ
A consolidated Scripture‑only thread gathering treasures — old and new, in their proper times and seasons.
1. Foundation Principle — Old and New Belong Together
“Every scribe
instructed concerning the kingdom of the heavens is like a man that
is a householder, who brings forth out of his treasure things new
and old.” —
Matthew 13:52
“All Scripture
is God‑breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16
The testimony of God does not cancel itself. What is old is not false, and what is new is not disconnected. Each is revealed in its appointed season.
2. God (YHWH) — Unchanging Source
“I YHWH change
not.” — Malachi 3:6
“From
everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” — Psalm 90:2
God’s purpose unfolds across ages, yet His character, righteousness, and authority do not alter.
3. Christ — God’s Appointed Son and Agent
“This is My Son,
the beloved, in whom I am well pleased.” — Matthew 3:17
“God has made
this Jesus, whom you crucified, both
Lord and Christ.”
— Acts 2:36
“For there is
one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Timothy 2:5
Christ is pre‑existent by God’s purpose, exalted by God, given authority, life, and kingship — always subject to the One who gave all things.
“Then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.” — 1 Corinthians 15:28
4. Covenants — One Promise, Revealed in Order
A. The Abrahamic Covenant — The Root Promise
“I will make of
you a great nation, and I will bless you… and in you shall all
families of the earth be blessed.” — Genesis 12:2–3
“To your seed I
will give this land.” — Genesis 12:7
“Look now toward
heaven, and number the stars… so shall your seed be.” — Genesis
15:5
“On that day
YHWH made a covenant with Abram.” — Genesis 15:18
“I will
establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you…
for an everlasting covenant.” — Genesis 17:7
“In your seed
shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.” — Genesis 22:18
The Abrahamic Covenant is unconditional, everlasting, and promise-based. It establishes: • The promised seed • The promised land • The promised blessing to the nations
This covenant stands beneath all later administrations and is never annulled.
“The covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul.” — Galatians 3:17
B. Present Grace Covenant (Sarah / Promise)
“Now we,
brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.” — Galatians
4:28
“You are not
under law, but under grace.” — Romans 6:14
“If you are
Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to
promise.” — Galatians 3:29
This present calling draws from the Abrahamic promise and operates now for the called‑out sons — Jew and Gentile — through faith, apart from the Law.
C. Future New Covenant with Israel (Jeremiah 31)
“Behold, days
are coming, declares YHWH, when I will make a new covenant with the
house of Israel and the house of Judah.” — Jeremiah 31:31
“They shall all
know Me, from the least of them to the greatest.” — Jeremiah
31:34
“And so all
Israel shall be saved.” — Romans 11:26
This covenant is national, future, and grounded in the Abrahamic promises, bringing Israel fully into obedience and restoration.
B. Future New Covenant with Israel (Jeremiah 31)
“Behold, days
are coming, declares YHWH, when I will make a new covenant with the
house of Israel and the house of Judah.” — Jeremiah 31:31
“They shall all
know Me, from the least of them to the greatest.” — Jeremiah
31:34
“And so all
Israel shall be saved.” — Romans 11:26
This covenant is national, future, and unaltered by the present calling of the nations.
5. Law — Fulfilled, Not Destroyed
“Think not that
I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets; I came not to destroy, but
to fulfill.” — Matthew 5:17
The Law revealed righteousness; Christ fulfilled its witness. Fulfillment does not erase truth — it completes it.
6. The Word — Living, Active, Two‑Edged
“The word of God
is living and active, sharper than any two‑edged sword.” —
Hebrews 4:12
“Out of His
mouth went a sharp two‑edged sword.” — Revelation 1:16
The Word cuts error from truth, light from darkness, obedience from rebellion — across every age.
7. Judgment and Mercy — In Proper Order
“For judgment
must begin at the house of God.” — 1 Peter 4:17
“Mercy rejoices
against judgment.” — James 2:13
God judges in righteousness, yet His purpose is restoration, not chaos.
8. Creation After the Flood — Preserved, Not Re‑Cursed
“I will never
again curse the ground because of man, nor will I ever again destroy
all flesh.” — Genesis 8:21
“I have set My
bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant.” —
Genesis 9:13
Creation remains in subjection, awaiting release — but not under recurring annihilation.
“The creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption.” — Romans 8:21
9. Walking by Guidance, Not Fear
“Your ears shall
hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it.’”
— Isaiah 30:21
“Do not be
anxious about tomorrow.” — Matthew 6:34
“The Father of
lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” —
James 1:17
10. End‑of‑Age Witness → Kingdom Rule
“This gospel of
the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the inhabited earth.” —
Matthew 24:14
“The kingdoms of
the world have become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.” —
Revelation 11:15
The present age witnesses. The coming age rules.
11. Summary — The Treasure Brought Forth
• God is unchanging • Christ is exalted by God • The Law testified; grace now calls • Israel’s covenant stands future • Judgment is real, mercy purposeful • Creation is preserved • Truth divides — and heals
“Behold, I make all things new.” — Revelation 21:5
Yet the old remains as witness, foundation, and testimony.
